Ἴμβρος (παιπαλόεσσα). An island lower in height than Samothrace between Samothrace and Troy and northwest of Tenedos Il. 13.33, Il. 14.281, Il. 24.78, 753.
Λῆμνος
Λῆμνος (ἀμιχθαλόεσσα, ἐϋκτιμένη , ἐϋκτίμενον πτολίεθρον, ἠγαθέη). The Aegean island, inhabited by the Sinties. Hephaestus's fall on to it Il. 1.593; Philoctetes left there Il. 2.722; Euneus sends wine from it to the Greeks Il. 7.467; Il. 21.230; its king Thoas-2 Il. 14.230; Hera encounters Ὕπνος there Il. 14.231, 281; Lycaon-2 sold into slavery there to Euneus Il. 21.40, 46, 58, 79; Il. 24.753: a seat of Hephaestus Od. 8.283 , 294, 301.

ἀμιχθαλόεις
ἀμιχθαλόεις -εσσα [prob. = ὀμιχθαλόεις fr. ὀμίχλη.] Thus, misty, steaming. Of Lemnos Il. 24.753. (Lemnos is not volcanic. The reference may be to some jet of natural gas which has now disappeared.)
