συμμείγνυμι

mix together, commingle; the Act. first in h.Merc. 81, h.Ven. 50, 250, though the Pass. occurs in Il. (v. infr.); of two things, both in acc., συμμίσγων μυρίκας καὶ μυρσινοειδέας ὄζους h.Merc. l.c.; βοὰν αὐλῶν ἐπέων τε θέσιν συμμ<ε>ῖξαι Pi. O. 3.9, etc.: c. acc. et dat. rei, τοῦτο . . γάλακτι συμμίσγοντες Hdt. 4.23; πῶς κεδνὰ τοῖς κακοῖσι συμμ<ε>ίξω; A. Ag. 648, cf. Pl. R. 415a, etc.; or c. acc. only, ὀργὴν συμμίσγων mixing in, adding, Thgn. 214; συμμ<ε>ίξαντες τὰ στρατόπεδα having combined them, Hdt. 4.114; ἐς τὠυτὸ ῥέεθρον τὸ ὕδωρ συμμίσγοντες Id. 7.127:—rarely in Med., χρώματα συμμ<ε>ίξασθαι Poll. 7.128:— Pass., with fut. Πηνειός

Πηνειός (ἀργυροδίνης). A river of Thessaly reaching the sea through the Vale of Tempe Il. 2.752, 753, 757.

ἀργυροδίνης

ἀργυροδίνης [ἄργυρος + δίνη.] Silver-eddying, clear. Of the Peneus Il. 2.753 (here app. merely conventionally, as the Peneus is (and presumably always has been) a turbid river). Of the Xanthus (Scamander) Il. 21.8, 130.

οὐδέ

οὐδέ [οὐ δέ.] Negative particle, in general use corresponding to οὐ as μηδέ to μή. 1 Adversatively, but not, yet not (cf. δέ 1) : βάλεν, οὐδʼ ἔρρηξεν χαλκός Il. 3.348. Cf. Od. 10.18. 10 Repeated, the first connecting in one of the foregoing constructions with what precedes and the second attaching itself to a particular word : οὐδὲ μὲν οὐδʼ οἳ ἄναρχοι ἔσαν Il. 2.703, 726, οὐδὲ μὲν οὐδὲ Τρῶας εἴασεν εὕδειν (did not let them sleep either) Il. 10.299. Cf. Il. 17.24, etc. : οὐδέ κεν ἄλλως οὐδὲ θεὸς τεύξειεν Od. 8.176, οὐδὲ μὲν οὐδʼ ἔνθεν περ ἀπήμονας ἦγον ἑταίρους (not even thence) Od. 10.551.
