Well, I ask you, gentlemen, is it not extraordinary that, if he saw me riding on a saddled mule, he would hold his peace,—for what could he say?[*]and then, because I mount borrowed horses, he should try to persuade you that I am able-bodied; and that my using two sticks, while others use one, should not be argued by him against me as a sign of being able-bodied, but my mounting horses should be advanced by him as a proof to you that I am able-bodied? For I use both aids for the same reason.

So utterly has he surpassed the whole human race in impudence that he tries with his single voice to persuade you all that I am not classed as disabled. Yet if he should persuade any of you on this point, gentlemen, what hinders me from drawing a lot for election as one of the nine archons,[*] and you from depriving me of my obol as having sound health, and voting it unanimously to this man as being a cripple? For surely, after you have deprived a man of the grant as being able-bodied, the law officers are not going to debar this same person, as being disabled, from drawing a lot!

Well 1 w 4
I 1 w 6
ask 1 w 9
you 1 w 12
gentlemen 1 w 22
is 1 w 25
it 1 w 27
not 1 w 30
extraordinary 1 w 43
that 1 w 47
if 1 w 50
he 1 w 52
saw 1 w 55
me 2 w 57
riding 1 w 63
on 1 w 65
a 6 w 66
saddled 1 w 73
mule 1 w 77
he 2 w 80
would 1 w 85
hold 1 w 89
his 1 w 92
peace 1 w 97
for 1 w 102
what 1 w 106
could 1 w 111
he 3 w 113
say 1 w 116
It 1 w 119
would 2 w 124
be 1 w 126
natural 1 w 133
for 2 w 136
a 13 w 137
cripple 1 w 144
to 1 w 146
ride 1 w 150
about 1 w 155
on 2 w 157
a 15 w 158
cheaply 1 w 165
hired 1 w 170
mule 2 w 174
if 2 w 177
only 1 w 181
he 5 w 183
could 2 w 188
afford 1 w 194
it 2 w 196
and 1 w 201
then 1 w 205
because 1 w 213
I 3 w 214
mount 1 w 219
borrowed 1 w 227
horses 1 w 233
he 7 w 236
should 1 w 242
try 1 w 245
to 2 w 247
persuade 1 w 255
you 2 w 258
that 2 w 262
I 4 w 263
am 1 w 265
able-bodied 1 w 276
and 2 w 280
that 3 w 284
my 1 w 286
using 1 w 291
two 1 w 294
sticks 1 w 300
while 1 w 306
others 1 w 312
use 2 w 315
one 1 w 318
should 2 w 325
not 2 w 328
be 3 w 330
argued 1 w 336
by 1 w 338
him 1 w 341
against 1 w 348
me 3 w 350
as 2 w 352
a 30 w 353
sign 1 w 357
of 1 w 359
being 1 w 364
able-bodied 2 w 375
but 1 w 379
my 2 w 381
mounting 1 w 389
horses 2 w 395
should 3 w 401
be 5 w 403
advanced 1 w 411
by 2 w 413
him 2 w 416
as 3 w 418
a 35 w 419
proof 1 w 424
to 3 w 426
you 3 w 429
that 4 w 433
I 5 w 434
am 2 w 436
able-bodied 3 w 447
For 1 w 451
I 6 w 452
use 3 w 455
both 1 w 459
aids 1 w 463
for 4 w 466
the 3 w 469
same 1 w 473
reason 1 w 479
So 1 w 482
utterly 1 w 489
has 1 w 492
he 10 w 494
surpassed 1 w 503
the 4 w 506
whole 1 w 511
human 1 w 516
race 1 w 520
in 7 w 522
impudence 1 w 531
that 5 w 535
he 12 w 537
tries 1 w 542
with 1 w 546
his 2 w 549
single 1 w 555
voice 1 w 560
to 4 w 562
persuade 2 w 570
you 4 w 573
all 1 w 576
that 6 w 580
I 7 w 581
am 4 w 583
not 3 w 586
classed 1 w 593
as 8 w 595
disabled 1 w 603
Yet 1 w 607
if 3 w 609
he 13 w 611
should 4 w 617
persuade 3 w 625
any 1 w 628
of 3 w 630
you 5 w 633
on 6 w 635
this 1 w 639
point 1 w 644
gentlemen 2 w 654
what 2 w 659
hinders 1 w 666
me 6 w 668
from 1 w 672
drawing 1 w 679
a 58 w 680
lot 1 w 683
for 5 w 686
election 1 w 694
as 9 w 696
one 2 w 699
of 4 w 701
the 5 w 704
nine 1 w 708
archons 1 w 715
The 1 w 719

from 2 w 748
all 2 w 751
the 6 w 754

except 1 w 780
apparently 1 w 791
those 1 w 797
who 2 w 800
were 2 w 804
formally 1 w 812
classed 2 w 819
as 11 w 821
infirm 1 w 827
and 3 w 831
you 6 w 834
from 3 w 838
depriving 1 w 847
me 7 w 849
of 5 w 851
my 3 w 853

as 12 w 859
having 1 w 865
sound 1 w 870
health 1 w 876
and 4 w 880
voting 1 w 886
it 5 w 888
unanimously 1 w 899
to 5 w 901
this 2 w 905
man 2 w 908
as 13 w 910
being 2 w 915
a 77 w 916

For 2 w 927
surely 1 w 933
after 1 w 939

a 80 w 955
man 3 w 958
