But the inhabitants of this city having determined to continue in their allegiance to the Romans, were afraid of my coming to them, and tried, by putting me upon another action, to divert me, that they might be freed from the terror they were in. Accordingly, they sent to Jesus, the captain of those robbers who were in the confines of Ptolemais, and promised to give him a great deal of money, if he would come with those forces he had with him, which were in number eight hundred, and fight with us. Accordingly, he complied with what they desired, upon the promises they had made him, and was desirous to fall upon us when we were unprepared for him, and knew nothing of his coming beforehand. So he sent to me, and desired that I would give him leave to come and salute me. When I had given him that leave, which I did without the least knowledge of his treacherous intentions beforehand, he took his band of robbers, and made haste to come to me. Yet did not this his knavery succeed well at last; for as he was already nearly approaching, one of those with him deserted him, and came to me, and told me what he had undertaken to do. When I was informed of this, I went into the market-place, and pretended to know nothing of his treacherous purpose. I took with me many Galileans that were armed, as also some of those of Tiberias; and, when I had given orders that all the roads should be carefully guarded, I charged the keepers of the gates to give admittance to none but Jesus, when he came, with the principal of his men, and to exclude the rest; and in case they aimed to force themselves in, to use stripes [in order to repel them]. Accordingly, those that had received such a charge did as they were bidden, and Jesus came in with a few others; and when I had ordered him to throw down his arms immediately, and told him, that if he refused so to do, he was a dead man, he seeing armed men standing all round about him, was terrified, and complied; and as for those of his followers that were excluded, when they were informed that he was seized, they ran away. I then called Jesus to me by himself, and told him, that I was not a stranger to that treacherous design he had against me, nor was I ignorant by whom he was sent for; that, however, I would forgive him what he had done already, if he would repent of it, and be faithful to me hereafter. And thus, upon his promise to do all that I desired, I let him go, and gave him leave to get those whom he had formerly had with him together again. But I threatened the inhabitants of Sepphoris, that, if they would not leave off their ungrateful treatment of me, I would punish them sufficiently.

of 10 w 944
this 3 w 948
I 5 w 950

when 3 w 1215
he 34 w 1217
came 2 w 1221
with 8 w 1226
the 20 w 1229
principal 1 w 1238

had 6 w 1362
received 1 w 1370
such 1 w 1374

as 11 w 1386
they 7 w 1390

bidden 1 w 1400
and 18 w 1404
Jesus 3 w 1409
came 3 w 1413
in 27 w 1415
with 9 w 1419
a 99 w 1420

others 1 w 1429
and 19 w 1433
when 4 w 1437
I 9 w 1438
had 7 w 1441
ordered 1 w 1448
him 9 w 1451
to 26 w 1453
throw 1 w 1458
down 1 w 1462
his 10 w 1465
arms 1 w 1469
immediately 1 w 1480
and 20 w 1484
told 2 w 1488
him 10 w 1491
that 7 w 1496
if 2 w 1498
he 43 w 1500
refused 1 w 1507
so 3 w 1509
to 28 w 1511
do 3 w 1513
he 44 w 1516
was 4 w 1519
a 107 w 1520
dead 1 w 1524
man 3 w 1527
he 45 w 1530
seeing 1 w 1536
armed 2 w 1541
men 2 w 1544
standing 1 w 1552
all 4 w 1555
round 1 w 1560
about 1 w 1565
him 11 w 1568
was 5 w 1572
terrified 1 w 1581
and 22 w 1585
complied 2 w 1593
and 23 w 1597
as 14 w 1599
for 8 w 1602
those 6 w 1607
of 16 w 1609
his 11 w 1612
followers 1 w 1621
that 8 w 1625
were 8 w 1629
excluded 1 w 1637
when 5 w 1642
they 8 w 1646
were 9 w 1650
informed 2 w 1658
that 9 w 1662
he 48 w 1664
was 6 w 1667
seized 1 w 1673
they 9 w 1678
ran 1 w 1681
away 1 w 1685
I 10 w 1687
then 1 w 1691
called 1 w 1697
Jesus 4 w 1702
to 29 w 1704
me 24 w 1706
by 2 w 1708
himself 1 w 1715
and 24 w 1719
told 3 w 1723
him 13 w 1726
that 10 w 1731
I 11 w 1732
was 7 w 1735
not 5 w 1738
a 128 w 1739
stranger 1 w 1747
to 31 w 1749
that 11 w 1753
treacherous 3 w 1764
design 1 w 1770
he 52 w 1772
had 8 w 1775
against 1 w 1782
me 25 w 1784
nor 1 w 1788
was 8 w 1791
I 12 w 1792
ignorant 1 w 1800
by 3 w 1802
whom 1 w 1806
he 53 w 1808
was 9 w 1811
sent 3 w 1815
for 10 w 1818
that 12 w 1823
however 1 w 1831
I 13 w 1833
would 3 w 1838
forgive 1 w 1845
him 14 w 1848
what 3 w 1852
he 54 w 1854
had 9 w 1857
done 1 w 1861
already 2 w 1868
if 4 w 1871
he 55 w 1873
would 4 w 1878
repent 1 w 1884
of 17 w 1886
it 13 w 1888

be 9 w 1894
faithful 1 w 1902
to 32 w 1904
me 26 w 1906

And 1 w 1919
thus 1 w 1923
upon 4 w 1928
his 12 w 1931
promise 3 w 1938
to 33 w 1940
do 5 w 1942
all 6 w 1945
that 13 w 1949
I 14 w 1950
desired 3 w 1957
I 15 w 1959
let 1 w 1962
him 15 w 1965
go 1 w 1967
and 26 w 1971
gave 1 w 1975
him 16 w 1978
leave 3 w 1983
to 34 w 1985
get 1 w 1988
those 7 w 1993
whom 2 w 1997
he 57 w 1999
had 10 w 2002
formerly 1 w 2010
had 11 w 2013
with 10 w 2017
him 17 w 2020
together 1 w 2028
again 2 w 2033
But 2 w 2037
I 16 w 2038
threatened 1 w 2048
