MICYLLUS

But as for me, having nothing at stake in life, neither farm nor tenement nor gold nor gear nor reputation nor statues, of course I was in marching order, and when Atropos did but sign to me I gladly flung away my knife and my leather (I was working on a sandal) and sprang up at once and followed her, barefooted as I was and without even washing off the blacking. In fact, I led the way, with my eyes to the fore, since there was nothing in the rear to turn me about and call me back. And by Heaven I see already that everything is splendid here with you, for that all should have equal rank and nobody be any better than his neighbour is more than pleasant, to me at least. And I infer that there is no dunning of debtors here and no paying of taxes, and above all no freezing in winter or falling ill or being thrashed by men of greater consequence. All are at peace, and the tables are turned, for we paupers laugh while the rich are distressed and lament.

MICYLLUS 1 w 8
But 1 w 11
as 1 w 13
for 1 w 16
me 1 w 18
having 1 w 25
nothing 1 w 32
at 1 w 34
stake 1 w 39
in 3 w 41
life 1 w 45
neither 1 w 53
farm 1 w 57
nor 1 w 60
tenement 1 w 68
nor 2 w 71
gold 1 w 75
nor 3 w 78
gear 1 w 82
nor 4 w 85
reputation 1 w 95
nor 5 w 98
statues 1 w 105
of 1 w 108
course 1 w 114
I 2 w 115
was 1 w 118
in 4 w 120
marching 1 w 128
order 1 w 133
and 1 w 137
when 1 w 141
Atropos 1 w 148
did 1 w 151
but 1 w 154
sign 1 w 158
to 1 w 160
me 3 w 162
I 3 w 163
gladly 1 w 169
flung 1 w 174
away 1 w 178
my 1 w 180
knife 1 w 185
and 2 w 188
my 2 w 190
leather 1 w 197
I 4 w 199
was 2 w 202
working 1 w 209
on 2 w 211
a 18 w 212
sandal 1 w 218
and 4 w 222
sprang 1 w 228
up 1 w 230
at 5 w 232
once 1 w 236
and 5 w 239
followed 1 w 247
her 3 w 250
barefooted 1 w 261
as 4 w 263
I 5 w 264
was 3 w 267
and 6 w 270
without 1 w 277
even 1 w 281
washing 1 w 288
off 1 w 291
the 3 w 294
blacking 1 w 302
In 1 w 305
fact 1 w 309
I 7 w 311
led 1 w 314
the 4 w 317
way 2 w 320
with 2 w 325
my 3 w 327
eyes 1 w 331
to 2 w 333
the 5 w 336
fore 1 w 340
since 1 w 346
there 1 w 351
was 5 w 354
nothing 2 w 361
in 11 w 363
the 7 w 366
rear 1 w 370
to 3 w 372
turn 1 w 376
me 4 w 378
about 1 w 383
and 7 w 386
call 1 w 390
me 5 w 392
back 1 w 396
And 1 w 400
by 1 w 402
Heaven 1 w 408
I 8 w 409
see 1 w 412
already 1 w 419
that 1 w 423
everything 1 w 433
is 1 w 435
splendid 1 w 443
here 2 w 447
with 3 w 451
you 1 w 454
for 3 w 458
that 2 w 462
all 2 w 465
should 1 w 471
have 1 w 475
equal 1 w 480
rank 1 w 484
and 8 w 487
nobody 1 w 493
be 1 w 495
any 1 w 498
better 1 w 504
than 1 w 508
his 1 w 511
neighbour 1 w 520
is 3 w 522
more 1 w 526
than 2 w 530
pleasant 1 w 538
to 4 w 541
me 6 w 543
at 8 w 545
least 1 w 550
And 2 w 554
I 9 w 555
infer 1 w 560
that 3 w 564
there 2 w 569
is 4 w 571
no 9 w 573
dunning 1 w 580
of 3 w 582
debtors 1 w 589
here 4 w 593
and 9 w 596
no 10 w 598
paying 1 w 604
of 4 w 606
taxes 1 w 611
and 10 w 615
above 1 w 620
all 3 w 623
no 11 w 625
freezing 1 w 633
in 17 w 635
winter 1 w 641
or 13 w 643
falling 1 w 650
ill 1 w 653
or 14 w 655
being 1 w 660
thrashed 1 w 668
by 2 w 670
men 2 w 673
of 5 w 675
greater 1 w 682
consequence 1 w 693
All 1 w 697
are 2 w 700
at 11 w 702
peace 1 w 707
and 11 w 711
the 9 w 714
tables 1 w 720
are 3 w 723
turned 1 w 729
for 4 w 733
we 2 w 735
paupers 1 w 742
laugh 1 w 747
while 1 w 752
the 10 w 755
rich 1 w 759
are 4 w 762
distressed 1 w 772
and 12 w 775
lament 1 w 781
