Pray tell me, is it not just that I also should be well inclined toward you in the same way, and beat you, since this is to be well inclined-to give a beating? For why ought your body to be exempt from blows and mine not? And yet I too was born free.
The boys weep, and do you not think it is right that a father should weep? You will say that it is ordained by law that this should be the lot of boys. But I would reply, that old men are boys twice over, and that it is the more reasonable that the old should weep than the young, inasmuch as it is less just that they should err.
Strepsiades.
It is nowhere ordained by law that a father should suffer this.
Phidippides.
Was it not then a man like you and me, who first proposed this law, and by speaking persuaded the ancients? Why then is it less lawful for me also in turn to propose henceforth a new law for the sons, that they should beat their fathers in turn?

Tokens

Pray 1 w 4
tell 1 w 8
me 1 w 10
is 1 w 13
it 1 w 15
not 1 w 18
just 1 w 22
that 1 w 26
I 1 w 27
also 1 w 31
should 1 w 37
be 1 w 39
well 1 w 43
inclined 1 w 51
toward 1 w 57
you 1 w 60
in 3 w 62
the 1 w 65
same 1 w 69
way 1 w 72
and 1 w 76
beat 1 w 80
you 2 w 83
since 1 w 89
this 1 w 93
is 3 w 95
to 2 w 97
be 3 w 99
well 2 w 103
inclined-to 1 w 114
give 1 w 118
a 9 w 119
beating 1 w 126
For 1 w 130
why 1 w 133
ought 1 w 138
your 1 w 142
body 1 w 146
to 4 w 148
be 5 w 150
exempt 1 w 156
from 1 w 160
blows 1 w 165
and 2 w 168
mine 1 w 172
not 2 w 175
And 1 w 179
yet 1 w 182
I 2 w 183
too 1 w 186
was 1 w 189
born 1 w 193
free 1 w 197
The 1 w 201
boys 1 w 205
weep 1 w 209
and 3 w 213
do 1 w 215
you 4 w 218
not 3 w 221
think 1 w 226
it 2 w 228
is 4 w 230
right 1 w 235
that 2 w 239
a 15 w 240
father 1 w 246
should 2 w 252
weep 2 w 256
You 1 w 260
will 1 w 264
say 1 w 267
that 3 w 271
it 3 w 273
is 5 w 275
ordained 1 w 283
by 1 w 285
law 1 w 288
that 4 w 292
this 2 w 296
should 3 w 302
be 6 w 304
the 3 w 307
lot 1 w 310
of 1 w 312
boys 2 w 316
But 1 w 320
I 3 w 321
would 1 w 326
reply 1 w 331
that 5 w 336
old 1 w 339
men 1 w 342
are 1 w 345
boys 3 w 349
twice 1 w 354
over 1 w 358
and 4 w 362
that 6 w 366
it 4 w 368
is 7 w 370
the 4 w 373
more 1 w 377
reasonable 1 w 387
that 7 w 391
the 5 w 394
old 2 w 397
should 4 w 403
weep 3 w 407
than 1 w 411
the 6 w 414
young 1 w 419
inasmuch 1 w 428
as 4 w 430
it 5 w 432
is 8 w 434
less 1 w 438
just 2 w 442
that 8 w 446
they 1 w 450
should 5 w 456
err 1 w 459
Strepsiades 1 w 471
It 1 w 474
is 9 w 476

that 9 w 500
a 37 w 501

should 6 w 513
suffer 1 w 519
this 3 w 523
Phidippides 1 w 535
Was 1 w 539
it 6 w 541
not 4 w 544
then 1 w 548
a 40 w 549
man 1 w 552
like 1 w 556
you 6 w 559
and 5 w 562
me 4 w 564
who 1 w 568
first 1 w 573
proposed 1 w 581
this 4 w 585

and 6 w 592
by 3 w 594
speaking 1 w 602
persuaded 1 w 611
the 10 w 614

Why 1 w 626
then 2 w 630
is 12 w 632
it 7 w 634
less 2 w 638
lawful 1 w 644
for 1 w 647
me 5 w 649
also 2 w 653
in 14 w 655
