Because, you say, the wretched creatures are infatuated and stupid beyond measure. Quite so, but still we are bound to preserve them in the interests of Athens. And then again we are not certain of another thing, that he will not attack the Chersonese. Indeed, if we may judge from the letter which he sent you, he means to take vengeance on the settlers there.

If, therefore, our present force is still in being, it will be able both to save the Chersonese and to make raids upon Philips territory. But if it is once disbanded, what shall we do if he marches against the Chersonese? Bring Diopithes to trial, you say. And how will that help matters? Well, then, we will set out from Athens ourselves. But suppose the winds will not let us? But surely Philip will not attack.

Because 1 w 7
you 1 w 11
say 1 w 14
the 1 w 18
wretched 1 w 26
creatures 1 w 35
are 1 w 38
infatuated 1 w 48
and 1 w 51
stupid 1 w 57
beyond 1 w 63
measure 1 w 70
Quite 1 w 76
so 1 w 78
but 1 w 82
still 1 w 87
we 1 w 89
are 2 w 92
bound 1 w 97
to 1 w 99
preserve 1 w 107
them 1 w 111
in 2 w 113
the 3 w 116
interests 1 w 125
of 1 w 127
Athens 1 w 133
And 1 w 137
then 2 w 141
again 1 w 146
we 2 w 148
are 3 w 151
not 1 w 154
certain 1 w 161
of 2 w 163
another 1 w 170
thing 1 w 175
that 1 w 180
he 8 w 182
will 1 w 186
not 3 w 189
attack 1 w 195
the 7 w 198
Chersonese 1 w 208
Indeed 1 w 215
if 1 w 218
we 3 w 220
may 1 w 223
judge 1 w 228
from 1 w 232
the 8 w 235
letter 1 w 241
which 1 w 246
he 12 w 248
sent 1 w 252
you 2 w 255
he 13 w 258
means 1 w 263
to 2 w 265
take 1 w 269
vengeance 1 w 278
on 3 w 280
the 9 w 283
settlers 1 w 291
there 1 w 296
If 1 w 299
therefore 1 w 309
our 1 w 313
present 1 w 320
force 1 w 325
is 1 w 327
still 2 w 332
in 7 w 334
being 1 w 339
it 2 w 342
will 2 w 346
be 3 w 348
able 1 w 352
both 1 w 356
to 3 w 358
save 1 w 362
the 12 w 365
Chersonese 2 w 375
and 2 w 378
to 4 w 380
make 1 w 384
raids 1 w 389
upon 1 w 393
Philip 1 w 399
s 25 w 401
territory 1 w 410
But 1 w 414
if 2 w 416
it 4 w 418
is 2 w 420
once 1 w 424
disbanded 1 w 433
what 1 w 438
shall 1 w 443
we 4 w 445
do 1 w 447
if 3 w 449
he 19 w 451
marches 1 w 458
against 1 w 465
the 13 w 468
Chersonese 3 w 478
Bring 1 w 484
Diopithes 1 w 493
to 6 w 495
trial 1 w 500
you 3 w 504
say 2 w 507
And 2 w 511
how 1 w 514
will 3 w 518
that 2 w 522
help 1 w 526
matters 1 w 533
Well 1 w 538
then 3 w 543
we 5 w 546
will 4 w 550
set 2 w 553
out 1 w 556
from 2 w 560
Athens 2 w 566
ourselves 1 w 575
But 2 w 579
suppose 1 w 586
the 17 w 589
winds 1 w 594
will 5 w 598
not 4 w 601
let 2 w 604
us 2 w 606
But 3 w 610
surely 1 w 616
Philip 2 w 622
will 6 w 626
not 5 w 629
attack 2 w 635
