ἤπιος -η, -ον. 1 Well or kindly disposed, kindly, gentle, mild, not harsh or rigorous: ἤπια δήνεα οἶδεν (is well disposed towards me) Il. 4.361 (see εἴδω III.12), ἐθέλω τοι ἠ. εἶναι Il. 8.40 = Il. 22.184. Cf. Il. 24.770, 775: Od. 2.47, 230 = Od. 5.8, Od. 2.234 = Od. 5.12, Od. 10.337, Od. 11.441, Od. 13.314, Od. 14.139, Od. 15.152, 490. Absol. in neut. pl.: εἴ μοι ἤπια εἰδείη (were well disposed towards me) Il. 16.73: ὁμῶς τοι ἤπια οἶδεν (is at one with you in loyalty of heart) Od. 13.405 = Od. 15.39, ἀνάκτεσιν ἤπια εἰδώς (loyal to them) Od. 15.557.
