Son of Molus and traditionally nephew of Idomeneus. ὀπάων of I. and joined with him in the leadership of the Cretans Il. 2.651, Il. 7.165 ; kills Phereclus Il. 5.59; accepts Hector's challenge but does not get the lot Il. 7.166; kills Adamas Il. 13.567 , kills Harpalion 650 , kills Morys and Hippotion Il. 14.514 , kills Acamas-1 Il. 16.342, kills Laogonus-1 Il. 16.603, Aeneas misses him 608 ; superintends the bringing of wood for the pyre of Patroclus Il. 23.113; takes part in the chariot-race Il. 23.351, comes in fourth 528, wins the archery contest 860, receives a consolation prize for spear-throwing, the contest not taking place 884; etc.

ἀνδρειφόντης

ἀνδρειφόντης [prob. rather ἆδριφόντης, fr. ἀδρ-, ἀνδρ-, ἀνήρ + φον-, *φένω. Cf. ἀνδροτής.] Slayer of men. Epithet of Enyalius Il. 2.651, Il. 7.166 = Il. 8.264 = Il. 17.259.
