with Hera, Poseidon, and Pallas Athena would have put him in bonds. It was you, goddess, who delivered him by calling to Olympus the hundred-handed one whom gods call Briareus, but men Aigaion, for he has more force [biê] even than his father;

405
when therefore he took his seat all-glorious beside the son of Kronos, the other gods were afraid, and did not bind him. Go, then, to him, remind him of all this, clasp his knees, and bid him give succor to the Trojans. Let the Achaeans be hemmed in at the sterns of their ships, and perish on the sea-shore,

410
that they may reap what joy they may of their king, and that Agamemnon may rue his derangement [atê] in offering insult to the best [aristos] of the Achaeans." Thetis wept and answered, "My son, woe is me that I should have borne or suckled you.

415
Would indeed that you had lived your span free from all sorrow at your ships, for it is all too brief; alas, that you should be at once short of life and long of sorrow above your peers: woe, therefore, was the hour in which I bore you;

420
nevertheless I will go to the snowy heights of Olympus, and tell this tale to Zeus, if he will hear our prayer: meanwhile stay where you are with your ships, nurse your anger [mênis] against the Achaeans, and hold aloof from fight. For Zeus went yesterday to Okeanos, to a feast among the Ethiopians, and the other gods went with him.

425
He will return to Olympus twelve days hence; I will then go to his mansion paved with bronze and will beseech him; nor do I doubt that I shall be able to persuade him." On this she left him, still furious at the loss of her

430
that had been taken by force [biê] from him. Meanwhile Odysseus reached Chryse with the hecatomb. When they had come inside the harbor they furled the sails and laid them in the ship's hold; they slackened the forestays, lowered the mast into its place,

435
and rowed the ship to the place where they would have her lie; there they cast out their mooring-stones and made fast the hawsers. They then got out upon the sea-shore and landed the hecatomb for Apollo; Chryseis also left the ship,

440
and Odysseus led her to the altar to deliver her into the hands of her father. "Chryses," said he, "King Agamemnon has sent me to bring you back your child, and to offer sacrifice to Apollo on behalf of the Danaans, that we may propitiate the god,

445
who has now brought sorrow upon the Argives." So saying he gave the girl over to her father, who received her gladly, and they ranged the holy hecatomb all orderly round the altar of the god. They washed their hands and took up the barley-meal to sprinkle over the victims,

450
while Chryses lifted up his hands and prayed aloud on their behalf. "Hear me," he cried, "O god of the silver bow, you who protect Chryse and holy Cilla, and rule Tenedos with your might. Even as you did hear me aforetime when I prayed, and did press hard upon the Achaeans,

455
so hear me yet again, and stay this fearful pestilence from the Danaans." Thus did he pray, and Apollo heard his prayer. When they had done praying and sprinkling the barley-meal, they drew back the heads of the victims and killed and flayed them.

460
They cut out the thigh-bones, wrapped them round in two layers of fat, set some pieces of raw meat on the top of them, and then Chryses laid them on the wood fire and poured wine over them, while the young men stood near him with five-pronged spits in their hands. When the thigh-bones were burned and they had tasted the inward meats,

465
they cut the rest up small, put the pieces upon the spits, roasted them till they were done, and drew them off: then, when they had finished their work [ponos] and the feast was ready, they ate it, and every man had his full share, so that all were satisfied. As soon as they had had enough to eat and drink,

470
pages filled the mixing-bowl with wine and water and handed it round, after giving every man his drink-offering. Thus all day long the young men worshipped the god with song, hymning him and chanting the joyous paean, and the god took pleasure in their voices;

475
but when the sun went down, and it came on dark, they laid themselves down to sleep by the stern cables of the ship, and when the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn, appeared they again set sail for the host of the Achaeans. Apollo sent them a fair wind,

480
so they raised their mast and hoisted their white sails aloft. As the sail bellied with the wind the ship flew through the seething deep water, and the foam hissed against her bows as she sped onward. When they reached the wide-stretching host of the Achaeans,

485
they drew the vessel ashore, high and dry upon the sands, set her strong props beneath her, and went their ways to their own tents and ships. But Achilles stayed at his ships and nursed his anger [mênis].

490
He went not to the honorable assembly, and sallied not forth to fight, but gnawed at his own heart, pining for battle and the war-cry. Now after twelve days the immortal gods came back in a body to Olympus,

495
and Zeus led the way. Thetis was not unmindful of the charge her son had laid upon her, so she rose from under the sea and went, enveloped in mist, through great heaven with early morning to Olympus, where she found the mighty son of Kronos sitting all alone upon its topmost ridges.

500
She sat herself down before him, and with her left hand seized his knees, while with her right she caught him under the chin, and besought him, saying - "Father Zeus, if I ever did you service in word or deed among the immortals, hear my prayer,

505
and do honor to my son, whose life is to be cut short so early. King Agamemnon has dishonored him by taking his prize and keeping her. Honor him then yourself, Olympian lord of counsel, and grant victory to the Trojans, till the Achaeans

510
give my son his due and load him with riches in requital [timê]." Zeus sat for a while silent, and without a word, but Thetis still kept firm hold of his knees, and besought him a second time. "Nod your head," said she, "and promise me surely,

515
or else deny me - for you have nothing to fear - that I may learn how greatly you disdain me." At this Zeus was much troubled and answered, "I shall have trouble if you set me quarreling with Hera, for she will provoke me with her taunting speeches;

520
even now she is always railing at me before the other gods and accusing me of giving aid to the Trojans. Go back now, lest she should find out. I will consider the matter, and will bring it about as wish.

525
See, I nod my head that you believe me. This is the most solemn act that I can offer to any god. I never recall my word, or deceive, or fail to do what I say, when I have nodded my head." As he spoke the son of Kronos bowed his dark brows, and the ambrosial locks swayed

530
on his immortal head, till vast Olympus reeled. When the pair had thus laid their plans, they parted - Zeus to his mansion, while the goddess left the splendor of Olympus, and plunged into the depths of the sea. The gods rose from their seats, before the coming of their sire. Not one of them dared

535
to remain sitting, but all stood up as he came among them. There, then, he took his seat. But Hera, when she saw him, knew that he and silver-footed Thetis, the daughter of the Old One of the Sea, had been planning mischief, so she at once began to upbraid him.

540
"Trickster," she cried, "which of the gods have you been taking into your counsels now? You are always settling matters in secret behind my back, and have never yet told me, if you could help it, one word of your intentions."

545
"Hera," replied the sire of gods and men, "you must not expect to be informed of all my counsels. You are my wife, but you would find it hard to understand them. When it is proper for you to hear, there is no one, god or man, who will be told sooner, but when I mean to keep a matter to myself,

550
you must not pry nor ask questions." "Dread son of Kronos," answered Hera, "what are you talking about? I? Pry and ask questions? Never. I let you have your own way in everything.

555
Still, I have a strong misgiving that Thetis, daughter of the Old One of the Sea, has been talking you over, for she was with you and had hold of your knees this self-same morning. I believe, therefore, that you have been promising her to give glory to Achilles, and to kill many people at the ships of the Achaeans."

560
"Wife," said Zeus, "I can do nothing but you suspect me and find it out. You will take nothing by it, for I shall only dislike you the more, and it will go harder with you. Granted that it is as you say; I mean to have it so;

565
sit down and hold your tongue as I bid you for if I once begin to lay my hands about you, though all heaven were on your side it would profit you nothing." On this Hera was frightened, so she curbed her stubborn will and sat down in silence.

570
But the heavenly beings were disquieted throughout the house of Zeus, till the cunning workman Hephaistos began to try and pacify his mother Hera. "It will be intolerable," said he, "if you two fall to wrangling

575
and setting heaven in an uproar about a pack of mortals. If such ill counsels are to prevail, we shall have no pleasure at our banquet. Let me then advise my mother - and she must herself know that it will be better - to make friends with my dear father Zeus, lest he again scold her and disturb our feast.

580
If the Olympian Thunderer wants to hurl us all from our seats, he can do so, for he is far the strongest, so give him fair words, and he will then soon be in a good humor with us." As he spoke, he took a double cup of nectar,

585
and placed it in his mother's hand. "Cheer up, my dear mother," said he, "and make the best of it. I love you dearly, and should be very sorry to see you get a thrashing; however grieved I might be, I could not help for there is no standing against Zeus.

590
Once before when I was trying to help you, he caught me by the foot and flung me from the heavenly threshold. All day long from morn till eve, was I falling, till at sunset I came to ground in the island of Lemnos, and there I lay, with very little life left in me, till the Sintians came and tended me."

595
Hera smiled at this, and as she smiled she took the cup from her son's hands. Then Hephaistos drew sweet nectar from the mixing-bowl, and served it round among the gods, going from left to right; and the blessed gods laughed out a loud approval

up 4 w 2138
his 9 w 2141
hands 3 w 2146
and 25 w 2149
prayed 1 w 2155
aloud 1 w 2160
on 20 w 2162
their 5 w 2167
behalf 2 w 2173
Hear 1 w 2179
me 11 w 2181
he 95 w 2185
cried 1 w 2190
O 8 w 2193
god 7 w 2196
of 16 w 2198
the 66 w 2201
silver 1 w 2207
bow 1 w 2210
you 14 w 2214
who 5 w 2217
protect 1 w 2224
Chryse 5 w 2230
and 26 w 2233
holy 2 w 2237
Cilla 1 w 2242
and 27 w 2246
rule 1 w 2250
Tenedos 1 w 2257
with 6 w 2261
your 7 w 2265
might 1 w 2270
Even 1 w 2275
as 14 w 2277
you 16 w 2280
did 2 w 2283
hear 2 w 2287
me 12 w 2289
aforetime 1 w 2298
when 2 w 2302
I 8 w 2303
prayed 2 w 2309
and 28 w 2313
did 3 w 2316
press 1 w 2321
hard 1 w 2325
upon 3 w 2329
the 67 w 2332
Achaeans 4 w 2340
so 7 w 2343
hear 3 w 2347
me 14 w 2349
yet 1 w 2352
again 2 w 2357
and 29 w 2361
stay 3 w 2365
this 4 w 2369
fearful 1 w 2376
pestilence 1 w 2386
from 4 w 2390
the 68 w 2393
Danaans 2 w 2400
Thus 1 w 2406
did 4 w 2409
he 102 w 2411
pray 4 w 2415
and 30 w 2419
Apollo 3 w 2425
heard 1 w 2430
his 11 w 2433
prayer 2 w 2439
When 2 w 2444
they 9 w 2448
had 4 w 2451
done 1 w 2455
praying 1 w 2462
and 31 w 2465
sprinkling 1 w 2475
the 70 w 2478
barley-meal 2 w 2489
they 10 w 2494
drew 1 w 2498
back 2 w 2502
the 72 w 2505
heads 1 w 2510
of 17 w 2512
the 73 w 2515
victims 2 w 2522
and 32 w 2525
killed 1 w 2531
and 33 w 2534
flayed 1 w 2540
them 2 w 2544
They 3 w 2549
cut 1 w 2552
out 3 w 2555
the 75 w 2558
thigh-bones 1 w 2569
wrapped 1 w 2577
them 3 w 2581
round 2 w 2586
in 26 w 2588
two 1 w 2591
layers 1 w 2597
of 18 w 2599
fat 4 w 2602
set 1 w 2606
some 1 w 2610
pieces 1 w 2616
of 19 w 2618
raw 1 w 2621
meat 1 w 2625
on 24 w 2627
the 77 w 2630
top 1 w 2633
of 20 w 2635
them 4 w 2639
and 34 w 2643
then 5 w 2647
Chryses 3 w 2654
laid 2 w 2658
them 5 w 2662
on 25 w 2664
the 81 w 2667
wood 1 w 2671
fire 1 w 2675
and 35 w 2678
poured 1 w 2684
wine 1 w 2688
over 3 w 2692
them 6 w 2696
while 4 w 2702
the 83 w 2705
young 1 w 2710
men 3 w 2713
stood 1 w 2718
near 1 w 2722
him 12 w 2725
with 7 w 2729
five-pronged 1 w 2741
spits 1 w 2746
in 28 w 2748
their 6 w 2753
hands 4 w 2758
When 3 w 2763
the 85 w 2766
thigh-bones 2 w 2777
were 4 w 2781
burned 1 w 2787
and 37 w 2790
they 11 w 2794
had 5 w 2797
tasted 1 w 2803
the 87 w 2806
inward 1 w 2812
meats 1 w 2817
they 12 w 2822
cut 2 w 2825
the 89 w 2828
rest 2 w 2832
up 6 w 2834
small 1 w 2839
put 2 w 2843
the 90 w 2846
pieces 2 w 2852
upon 4 w 2856
the 91 w 2859
spits 2 w 2864
roasted 1 w 2872
them 7 w 2876
till 2 w 2880
they 13 w 2884
were 5 w 2888
done 2 w 2892
and 38 w 2896
drew 2 w 2900
them 8 w 2904
off 3 w 2907
then 6 w 2912
when 3 w 2917
they 14 w 2921
had 6 w 2924
finished 1 w 2932
their 7 w 2937
work 1 w 2941
ponos 1 w 2947
and 39 w 2951
the 98 w 2954
feast 2 w 2959
was 4 w 2962
ready 1 w 2967
they 15 w 2972
ate 2 w 2975
it 13 w 2977
and 40 w 2981
every 1 w 2986
man 2 w 2989
had 7 w 2992
his 12 w 2995
full 1 w 2999
share 1 w 3004
so 9 w 3007
that 9 w 3011
all 11 w 3014
were 6 w 3018
satisfied 1 w 3027
As 1 w 3030
soon 1 w 3034
as 19 w 3036
they 16 w 3040
had 8 w 3043
had 9 w 3046
enough 1 w 3052
to 32 w 3054
eat 4 w 3057
and 41 w 3060
drink 1 w 3065
pages 1 w 3071
filled 1 w 3077
the 101 w 3080
mixing-bowl 1 w 3091
with 8 w 3095
wine 2 w 3099
and 42 w 3102
water 1 w 3107
and 43 w 3110
handed 2 w 3116
it 15 w 3118
round 3 w 3123
after 1 w 3129
giving 1 w 3135
every 2 w 3140
man 3 w 3143
his 13 w 3146
drink-offering 1 w 3160
Thus 2 w 3165
all 12 w 3168
day 3 w 3171
long 2 w 3175
the 102 w 3178
young 2 w 3183
men 4 w 3186
worshipped 1 w 3196
the 103 w 3199
god 8 w 3202
with 9 w 3206
song 1 w 3210
hymning 1 w 3218
him 13 w 3221
and 45 w 3224
chanting 1 w 3232
the 104 w 3235
joyous 1 w 3241
paean 1 w 3246
and 46 w 3250
the 105 w 3253
god 9 w 3256
took 3 w 3260
pleasure 1 w 3268
in 39 w 3270
their 8 w 3275
voices 1 w 3281
but 2 w 3285
when 4 w 3289
the 107 w 3292
sun 1 w 3295
went 3 w 3299
down 1 w 3303
and 47 w 3307
it 17 w 3309
came 1 w 3313
on 34 w 3315
dark 1 w 3319
they 17 w 3324
laid 3 w 3328
themselves 1 w 3338
down 2 w 3342
to 34 w 3344
sleep 1 w 3349
by 3 w 3351
the 110 w 3354
stern 2 w 3359
cables 1 w 3365
of 23 w 3367
the 111 w 3370
ship 8 w 3374
and 48 w 3378
when 5 w 3382
the 112 w 3385
child 2 w 3390
of 24 w 3392
morning 1 w 3399
rosy-fingered 1 w 3413
Dawn 1 w 3417
appeared 1 w 3426
they 18 w 3430
again 3 w 3435
set 2 w 3438
sail 2 w 3442
for 10 w 3445
the 114 w 3448
host 1 w 3452
of 25 w 3454
the 115 w 3457
Achaeans 5 w 3465
Apollo 4 w 3472
sent 2 w 3476
them 10 w 3480
a 258 w 3481
fair 1 w 3485
wind 1 w 3489
so 12 w 3492
they 19 w 3496
raised 1 w 3502
their 9 w 3507
mast 2 w 3511
and 49 w 3514
hoisted 1 w 3521
their 10 w 3526
white 1 w 3531
sails 2 w 3536
aloft 1 w 3541
As 2 w 3544
the 120 w 3547
sail 4 w 3551
bellied 1 w 3558
with 10 w 3562
the 121 w 3565
wind 2 w 3569
the 122 w 3572
ship 9 w 3576
flew 1 w 3580
through 1 w 3587
the 123 w 3590
seething 1 w 3598
deep 1 w 3602
water 2 w 3607
and 50 w 3611
the 124 w 3614
foam 1 w 3618
hissed 1 w 3624
against 2 w 3631
her 18 w 3634
bows 1 w 3638
as 22 w 3640
she 4 w 3643
sped 1 w 3647
onward 1 w 3653
When 4 w 3658
they 20 w 3662
reached 2 w 3669
the 126 w 3672
wide-stretching 1 w 3687
host 2 w 3691
of 27 w 3693
the 127 w 3696
Achaeans 6 w 3704
they 21 w 3709
drew 3 w 3713
the 129 w 3716
vessel 1 w 3722
ashore 1 w 3728
high 3 w 3733
and 51 w 3736
dry 1 w 3739
upon 5 w 3743
the 130 w 3746
sands 1 w 3751
set 3 w 3755
her 19 w 3758
strong 1 w 3764
props 1 w 3769
beneath 1 w 3776
her 20 w 3779
and 53 w 3783
went 4 w 3787
their 11 w 3792
ways 1 w 3796
to 35 w 3798
their 12 w 3803
own 3 w 3806
tents 1 w 3811
and 54 w 3814
ships 4 w 3819
But 1 w 3823
Achilles 1 w 3831
stayed 1 w 3837
at 33 w 3839
his 15 w 3842
ships 5 w 3847
and 55 w 3850
nursed 1 w 3856
his 16 w 3859
anger 2 w 3864
mênis 2 w 3870
He 4 w 3874
went 5 w 3878
not 2 w 3881
to 36 w 3883
the 133 w 3886
honorable 1 w 3895
assembly 1 w 3903
and 56 w 3907
sallied 1 w 3914
not 3 w 3917
forth 1 w 3922
to 37 w 3924
fight 2 w 3929
but 3 w 3933
gnawed 1 w 3939
at 34 w 3941
his 17 w 3944
own 4 w 3947
heart 1 w 3952
pining 1 w 3959
for 12 w 3962
battle 1 w 3968
and 57 w 3971
the 134 w 3974
war-cry 1 w 3981
Now 1 w 3985
after 2 w 3990
twelve 2 w 3996
days 2 w 4000
the 135 w 4003
immortal 1 w 4011
gods 4 w 4015
came 2 w 4019
back 3 w 4023
in 50 w 4025
a 302 w 4026
body 1 w 4030
to 38 w 4032
Olympus 4 w 4039
and 58 w 4043
Zeus 3 w 4047
led 6 w 4050
the 136 w 4053
way 2 w 4056
Thetis 2 w 4063
was 5 w 4066
not 4 w 4069
unmindful 1 w 4078
of 28 w 4080
the 137 w 4083
charge 1 w 4089
her 21 w 4092
son 4 w 4095
had 10 w 4098
laid 4 w 4102
upon 6 w 4106
her 22 w 4109
so 14 w 4112
she 5 w 4115
rose 1 w 4119
from 5 w 4123
under 1 w 4128
the 138 w 4131
sea 4 w 4134
and 59 w 4137
went 6 w 4141
enveloped 1 w 4151
in 52 w 4153
mist 1 w 4157
through 2 w 4165
great 1 w 4170
heaven 1 w 4176
with 11 w 4180
early 1 w 4185
morning 2 w 4192
to 39 w 4194
Olympus 5 w 4201
where 3 w 4207
she 6 w 4210
found 1 w 4215
the 139 w 4218
mighty 1 w 4224
son 5 w 4227
of 29 w 4229
Kronos 2 w 4235
sitting 1 w 4242
all 14 w 4245
alone 1 w 4250
upon 7 w 4254
its 4 w 4257
topmost 1 w 4264
ridges 1 w 4270
She 1 w 4274
sat 2 w 4277
herself 1 w 4284
down 3 w 4288
before 1 w 4294
him 14 w 4297
and 60 w 4301
with 12 w 4305
her 25 w 4308
left 3 w 4312
hand 7 w 4316
seized 1 w 4322
his 18 w 4325

while 5 w 4336
with 13 w 4340
her 26 w 4343
right 1 w 4348
she 7 w 4351
caught 1 w 4357
him 15 w 4360
under 2 w 4365
the 140 w 4368
chin 2 w 4372
and 62 w 4376
besought 1 w 4384
him 16 w 4387
saying 2 w 4394
Father 1 w 4402
Zeus 4 w 4406
if 5 w 4409
I 9 w 4410
ever 4 w 4414
did 5 w 4417
you 20 w 4420
service 1 w 4427
in 57 w 4429
word 1 w 4433
or 39 w 4435
deed 2 w 4439
among 2 w 4444
the 142 w 4447
immortals 1 w 4456
hear 6 w 4461
my 1 w 4463
prayer 3 w 4469
and 63 w 4473
do 10 w 4475
honor 2 w 4480
to 41 w 4482
my 2 w 4484
son 6 w 4487
whose 1 w 4493
life 2 w 4497
is 33 w 4499
to 42 w 4501
be 14 w 4503
cut 3 w 4506
short 2 w 4511
so 18 w 4513
early 2 w 4518
King 2 w 4523
Agamemnon 3 w 4532
has 4 w 4535
dishonored 1 w 4545
him 17 w 4548
by 4 w 4550
taking 1 w 4556
his 19 w 4559
prize 1 w 4564
and 64 w 4567
keeping 1 w 4574
her 28 w 4577
Honor 1 w 4583
him 18 w 4586
then 7 w 4590
yourself 1 w 4598
Olympian 1 w 4607
lord 1 w 4611
of 30 w 4613
counsel 1 w 4620
and 65 w 4624
grant 1 w 4629
victory 1 w 4636
to 44 w 4638
the 144 w 4641
Trojans 2 w 4648
till 3 w 4653
the 145 w 4656
Achaeans 7 w 4664
give 3 w 4668
my 3 w 4670
son 7 w 4673
his 20 w 4676
due 1 w 4679
and 66 w 4682
load 1 w 4686
him 19 w 4689
with 14 w 4693
riches 1 w 4699
in 61 w 4701
requital 1 w 4709
timê 1 w 4714
Zeus 5 w 4721
sat 3 w 4724
for 14 w 4727
a 343 w 4728
while 6 w 4733
silent 1 w 4739
and 67 w 4743
without 1 w 4750
a 345 w 4751
word 2 w 4755
but 4 w 4759
Thetis 3 w 4765
still 2 w 4770
kept 1 w 4774
firm 1 w 4778
hold 3 w 4782
of 31 w 4784
his 21 w 4787

and 68 w 4796
besought 2 w 4804
him 20 w 4807
a 347 w 4808

said 2 w 4837
she 8 w 4840
and 69 w 4845
promise 1 w 4852
me 25 w 4854
surely 1 w 4860
or 49 w 4863
else 1 w 4867
deny 1 w 4871
me 26 w 4873
for 15 w 4877
you 23 w 4880
have 4 w 4884
nothing 1 w 4891
to 45 w 4893
fear 2 w 4897
that 10 w 4902
I 10 w 4903
may 5 w 4906
learn 1 w 4911
how 1 w 4914
greatly 1 w 4921
you 24 w 4924
disdain 1 w 4931
me 27 w 4933
At 2 w 4937
this 5 w 4941
Zeus 6 w 4945
was 6 w 4948
much 1 w 4952
troubled 1 w 4960
and 70 w 4963
answered 2 w 4971
I 11 w 4974
shall 2 w 4979
have 5 w 4983
trouble 2 w 4990
if 7 w 4992
you 25 w 4995
set 4 w 4998
me 28 w 5000
quarreling 1 w 5010
with 16 w 5014
Hera 2 w 5018
for 16 w 5022
she 9 w 5025
will 6 w 5029
provoke 1 w 5036
me 29 w 5038
with 17 w 5042
her 29 w 5045
taunting 1 w 5053
speeches 1 w 5061
even 2 w 5066
now 3 w 5069
she 10 w 5072
is 42 w 5074
always 1 w 5080
railing 1 w 5087
at 42 w 5089
me 30 w 5091
before 2 w 5097
the 146 w 5100
other 3 w 5105
gods 5 w 5109
and 71 w 5112
accusing 1 w 5120
me 31 w 5122
of 32 w 5124
giving 2 w 5130
aid 8 w 5133
to 46 w 5135
the 148 w 5138
Trojans 3 w 5145
Go 2 w 5148
back 4 w 5152
now 4 w 5155
lest 1 w 5160
she 11 w 5163
should 3 w 5169
find 1 w 5173
out 5 w 5176
I 12 w 5178
will 7 w 5182
consider 1 w 5190
the 149 w 5193
matter 1 w 5199
and 72 w 5203
will 8 w 5207
bring 2 w 5212
it 30 w 5214
about 1 w 5219
as 28 w 5221
wish 1 w 5225
See 1 w 5229
I 13 w 5231
nod 1 w 5234
my 4 w 5236
head 3 w 5240
that 11 w 5244
you 26 w 5247
believe 1 w 5254
me 32 w 5256
This 1 w 5261
is 45 w 5263
the 150 w 5266
most 2 w 5270
solemn 1 w 5276
act 1 w 5279
that 12 w 5283
I 14 w 5284
can 1 w 5287
offer 4 w 5292
to 47 w 5294
any 1 w 5297
god 12 w 5300
I 15 w 5302
never 2 w 5307
recall 1 w 5313
my 5 w 5315
word 3 w 5319
or 54 w 5322
deceive 1 w 5329
or 55 w 5332
fail 1 w 5336
to 48 w 5338
do 11 w 5340
what 2 w 5344
I 16 w 5345
say 3 w 5348
when 6 w 5353
I 17 w 5354
have 6 w 5358
nodded 1 w 5364
my 6 w 5366
head 4 w 5370
As 3 w 5374
he 227 w 5376
spoke 1 w 5381
the 151 w 5384
son 8 w 5387
of 34 w 5389
Kronos 3 w 5395
bowed 1 w 5400
his 24 w 5403
dark 2 w 5407
brows 1 w 5412
and 73 w 5416
the 152 w 5419
ambrosial 1 w 5428
locks 1 w 5433
swayed 1 w 5439
on 56 w 5441
his 25 w 5444
immortal 3 w 5452
head 5 w 5456
till 5 w 5461
vast 1 w 5465
Olympus 6 w 5472
reeled 1 w 5478
When 5 w 5483
the 153 w 5486
pair 1 w 5490
had 11 w 5493
thus 1 w 5497
laid 5 w 5501
their 13 w 5506
plans 1 w 5511
they 22 w 5516
parted 1 w 5522
Zeus 7 w 5527
to 49 w 5529
his 26 w 5532
mansion 2 w 5539
while 7 w 5545
the 156 w 5548
goddess 2 w 5555
left 4 w 5559
the 157 w 5562
splendor 1 w 5570
of 35 w 5572
Olympus 7 w 5579
and 74 w 5583
plunged 1 w 5590
into 3 w 5594
the 158 w 5597
depths 1 w 5603
of 36 w 5605
the 159 w 5608
sea 5 w 5611
The 7 w 5615
gods 6 w 5619
rose 2 w 5623
from 6 w 5627
their 14 w 5632
seats 1 w 5637
before 3 w 5644
the 161 w 5647
coming 1 w 5653
of 37 w 5655
their 15 w 5660
sire 1 w 5664
Not 1 w 5668
one 8 w 5671
of 38 w 5673
them 11 w 5677
dared 1 w 5682
to 51 w 5684
remain 1 w 5690
sitting 2 w 5697
but 5 w 5701
all 17 w 5704
stood 2 w 5709
up 11 w 5711
as 30 w 5713
he 244 w 5715
came 3 w 5719
among 3 w 5724
them 12 w 5728
There 1 w 5734
then 8 w 5739
he 248 w 5742
took 4 w 5746
his 27 w 5749
seat 3 w 5753
But 2 w 5757
Hera 3 w 5761
when 7 w 5766
she 12 w 5769
saw 1 w 5772
him 21 w 5775
knew 1 w 5780
that 13 w 5784
he 251 w 5786
and 75 w 5789
silver-footed 1 w 5802
Thetis 4 w 5808
the 166 w 5812
daughter 1 w 5820
of 39 w 5822
the 167 w 5825
Old 1 w 5828
One 1 w 5831
of 40 w 5833
the 168 w 5836
Sea 1 w 5839
had 12 w 5843
been 2 w 5847
planning 1 w 5855
mischief 1 w 5863
so 23 w 5866
she 13 w 5869
at 50 w 5871
once 2 w 5875
began 1 w 5880
to 54 w 5882
upbraid 1 w 5889
him 22 w 5892
Trickster 1 w 5903
she 14 w 5908
cried 2 w 5913
which 2 w 5920
of 41 w 5922
the 169 w 5925
gods 7 w 5929
have 7 w 5933
you 27 w 5936
been 3 w 5940
taking 2 w 5946
into 4 w 5950
your 10 w 5954
counsels 1 w 5962
now 5 w 5965
You 1 w 5969
are 6 w 5972
always 2 w 5978
settling 1 w 5986
matters 1 w 5993
in 79 w 5995
secret 1 w 6001
behind 1 w 6007
my 7 w 6009
back 5 w 6013
and 76 w 6017
have 8 w 6021
never 3 w 6026
yet 2 w 6029
told 1 w 6033
me 34 w 6035
if 8 w 6038
you 29 w 6041
could 1 w 6046
help 1 w 6050
it 32 w 6052
one 9 w 6056
word 4 w 6060
of 42 w 6062
your 11 w 6066
intentions 1 w 6076
Hera 4 w 6083
replied 1 w 6092
the 170 w 6095
sire 2 w 6099
of 43 w 6101
gods 8 w 6105
and 77 w 6108
men 5 w 6111
you 31 w 6116
must 1 w 6120
not 6 w 6123
expect 1 w 6129
to 57 w 6131
be 23 w 6133
informed 1 w 6141
of 44 w 6143
all 18 w 6146
my 8 w 6148
counsels 2 w 6156
You 2 w 6160
are 7 w 6163
my 9 w 6165
wife 1 w 6169
but 6 w 6173
you 32 w 6176
would 3 w 6181
find 2 w 6185
it 33 w 6187
hard 2 w 6191
to 58 w 6193
understand 1 w 6203
them 13 w 6207
When 6 w 6212
it 34 w 6214
is 52 w 6216
proper 1 w 6222
for 20 w 6225
you 33 w 6228
to 59 w 6230
hear 7 w 6234
there 4 w 6240
is 53 w 6242
no 28 w 6244
one 10 w 6247
god 17 w 6251
or 62 w 6253
man 5 w 6256
who 7 w 6260
will 9 w 6264
be 24 w 6266
told 2 w 6270
sooner 1 w 6276
but 7 w 6280
when 8 w 6284
I 18 w 6285
mean 2 w 6289
to 61 w 6291
keep 2 w 6295
a 444 w 6296
matter 3 w 6302
to 62 w 6304
myself 1 w 6310
you 34 w 6314
must 2 w 6318
not 7 w 6321
pry 1 w 6324
nor 6 w 6327
ask 1 w 6330
questions 1 w 6339
Dread 1 w 6347
son 9 w 6350
of 45 w 6352
Kronos 4 w 6358
answered 3 w 6368
Hera 5 w 6372
what 3 w 6378
are 8 w 6381
you 35 w 6384
talking 1 w 6391
about 2 w 6396
I 19 w 6398
Pry 1 w 6402
and 79 w 6405
ask 2 w 6408
questions 2 w 6417
Never 1 w 6423
I 20 w 6425
let 1 w 6428
you 36 w 6431
have 9 w 6435
your 12 w 6439
own 6 w 6442
way 6 w 6445
in 85 w 6447
everything 1 w 6457
Still 1 w 6463
I 21 w 6465
have 10 w 6469
a 459 w 6470
strong 2 w 6476
misgiving 1 w 6485
that 14 w 6489
Thetis 5 w 6495
daughter 2 w 6504
of 46 w 6506
the 173 w 6509
Old 2 w 6512
One 2 w 6515
of 47 w 6517
the 174 w 6520
Sea 2 w 6523
has 5 w 6527
been 4 w 6531
talking 2 w 6538
you 38 w 6541
over 4 w 6545
for 21 w 6549
she 15 w 6552
was 7 w 6555
with 18 w 6559
you 39 w 6562
and 80 w 6565
had 13 w 6568
hold 4 w 6572
of 48 w 6574
your 13 w 6578
knees 4 w 6583
this 6 w 6587
self-same 1 w 6596
morning 3 w 6603
I 22 w 6605
believe 2 w 6612
therefore 3 w 6622
that 15 w 6627
you 41 w 6630
have 11 w 6634
been 5 w 6638
promising 1 w 6647
her 34 w 6650
to 63 w 6652
give 4 w 6656
glory 1 w 6661
to 64 w 6663
Achilles 2 w 6671
and 81 w 6675
to 65 w 6677
kill 2 w 6681
many 1 w 6685
people 1 w 6691
at 56 w 6693
the 176 w 6696
ships 6 w 6701
of 49 w 6703
the 177 w 6706
Achaeans 8 w 6714
Wife 1 w 6721
said 3 w 6727
Zeus 8 w 6731
I 23 w 6734
can 2 w 6737
do 13 w 6739
nothing 2 w 6746
but 8 w 6749
you 42 w 6752
suspect 1 w 6759
me 39 w 6761
and 82 w 6764
find 3 w 6768
it 36 w 6770
out 8 w 6773
You 3 w 6777
will 10 w 6781
take 2 w 6785
nothing 3 w 6792
by 5 w 6794
it 37 w 6796
for 23 w 6800
I 24 w 6801
shall 3 w 6806
only 1 w 6810
dislike 1 w 6817
you 43 w 6820
the 178 w 6823
more 2 w 6827
and 83 w 6831
it 38 w 6833
will 11 w 6837
go 21 w 6839
harder 1 w 6845
with 19 w 6849
you 44 w 6852
Granted 1 w 6860
that 16 w 6864
it 40 w 6866
is 59 w 6868
as 35 w 6870
you 45 w 6873
say 4 w 6876
I 25 w 6878
mean 3 w 6882
to 66 w 6884
have 12 w 6888
it 41 w 6890
so 26 w 6892
sit 3 w 6896
down 4 w 6900
and 84 w 6903
hold 5 w 6907
your 14 w 6911
tongue 1 w 6917
as 36 w 6919
I 26 w 6920
bid 2 w 6923
you 47 w 6926
for 24 w 6929
if 11 w 6931
I 27 w 6932
once 3 w 6936
begin 1 w 6941
to 68 w 6943
lay 3 w 6946
my 11 w 6948
hands 5 w 6953
about 3 w 6958
you 48 w 6961
though 1 w 6968
all 20 w 6971
heaven 2 w 6977
were 9 w 6981
on 73 w 6983
your 15 w 6987
side 4 w 6991
it 43 w 6993
would 4 w 6998
profit 1 w 7004
you 50 w 7007
nothing 4 w 7014
On 4 w 7018
this 7 w 7022
Hera 6 w 7026
was 8 w 7029
frightened 1 w 7039
so 27 w 7042
she 16 w 7045
curbed 1 w 7051
her 35 w 7054
stubborn 1 w 7062
will 12 w 7066
and 86 w 7069
sat 4 w 7072
down 5 w 7076
in 96 w 7078
silence 1 w 7085
But 3 w 7089
the 179 w 7092
heavenly 1 w 7100
beings 1 w 7106
were 10 w 7110
disquieted 1 w 7120
throughout 1 w 7130
the 180 w 7133
house 1 w 7138
of 51 w 7140
Zeus 9 w 7144
till 7 w 7149
the 181 w 7152
cunning 1 w 7159
workman 1 w 7166
Hephaistos 1 w 7176
began 2 w 7181
to 70 w 7183
try 1 w 7186
and 87 w 7189
pacify 1 w 7195
his 30 w 7198
mother 1 w 7204
Hera 7 w 7208
It 2 w 7212
will 13 w 7216
be 32 w 7218
intolerable 1 w 7229
said 4 w 7235
he 283 w 7237
if 13 w 7241
you 51 w 7244
two 2 w 7247
fall 1 w 7251
to 72 w 7253
wrangling 1 w 7262
and 88 w 7265
setting 1 w 7272
heaven 4 w 7278
in 102 w 7280
an 139 w 7282
uproar 1 w 7288
about 4 w 7293
a 516 w 7294
pack 1 w 7298
of 52 w 7300
mortals 2 w 7307
If 1 w 7310
such 1 w 7314
ill 27 w 7317
counsels 3 w 7325
are 9 w 7328
to 73 w 7330
prevail 1 w 7337
we 24 w 7340
shall 4 w 7345
have 13 w 7349
no 35 w 7351
pleasure 2 w 7359
at 59 w 7361
our 19 w 7364
banquet 1 w 7371
Let 2 w 7375
me 41 w 7377
then 9 w 7381
advise 1 w 7387
my 12 w 7389
mother 2 w 7395
and 89 w 7399
she 17 w 7402
must 3 w 7406
herself 2 w 7413
know 1 w 7417
that 17 w 7421
it 45 w 7423
will 14 w 7427
be 33 w 7429
better 1 w 7435
to 74 w 7438
make 1 w 7442
friends 1 w 7449
with 20 w 7453
my 13 w 7455
dear 1 w 7459
father 4 w 7465
Zeus 10 w 7469
lest 2 w 7474
he 290 w 7476
again 5 w 7481
scold 1 w 7486
her 40 w 7489
and 90 w 7492
disturb 1 w 7499
our 20 w 7502
feast 3 w 7507
If 2 w 7510
the 186 w 7513
Olympian 2 w 7521
Thunderer 1 w 7530
wants 1 w 7535
to 75 w 7537
hurl 1 w 7541
us 33 w 7543
all 23 w 7546
from 7 w 7550
our 21 w 7553
seats 2 w 7558
he 293 w 7561
can 3 w 7564
do 16 w 7566
so 28 w 7568
for 25 w 7572
he 294 w 7574
is 66 w 7576
far 1 w 7579
the 187 w 7582
strongest 1 w 7591
so 29 w 7594
give 5 w 7598
him 23 w 7601
fair 2 w 7605
words 1 w 7610
and 91 w 7614
he 296 w 7616
will 15 w 7620
then 10 w 7624
soon 3 w 7628
be 35 w 7630
in 104 w 7632
a 544 w 7633
good 1 w 7637
humor 1 w 7642
with 21 w 7646
us 34 w 7648
As 4 w 7652
he 298 w 7654
spoke 2 w 7659
he 299 w 7662
took 5 w 7666
a 545 w 7667
double 1 w 7673
cup 1 w 7676
of 53 w 7678
nectar 1 w 7684
and 92 w 7688
placed 1 w 7694
it 48 w 7696
in 105 w 7698
his 31 w 7701
mother 3 w 7707
s 486 w 7709
hand 9 w 7713
Cheer 1 w 7720
up 15 w 7722
my 14 w 7725
dear 2 w 7729
mother 4 w 7735
said 5 w 7741
he 303 w 7743
and 94 w 7748
make 2 w 7752
the 191 w 7755
best 2 w 7759
of 54 w 7761
it 49 w 7763
I 31 w 7765
love 1 w 7769
you 52 w 7772
dearly 1 w 7778
and 95 w 7782
should 4 w 7788
be 37 w 7790
very 4 w 7794
sorry 1 w 7799
to 77 w 7801
see 3 w 7804
you 53 w 7807
get 1 w 7810
a 556 w 7811
thrashing 1 w 7820
however 1 w 7828
grieved 1 w 7835
I 32 w 7836
might 3 w 7841
be 38 w 7843
I 33 w 7845
could 2 w 7850
not 11 w 7853
help 2 w 7857
for 26 w 7860
there 6 w 7865
is 68 w 7867
no 38 w 7869
standing 1 w 7877
against 3 w 7884
Zeus 11 w 7888
Once 1 w 7893
before 4 w 7899
when 9 w 7903
I 34 w 7904
was 9 w 7907
trying 1 w 7913
to 78 w 7915
help 3 w 7919
you 54 w 7922
he 309 w 7925
caught 2 w 7931
me 42 w 7933
by 6 w 7935
the 193 w 7938
foot 2 w 7942
and 97 w 7945
flung 1 w 7950
me 43 w 7952
from 8 w 7956
the 194 w 7959
heavenly 2 w 7967
threshold 1 w 7976
All 1 w 7980
day 5 w 7983
long 3 w 7987
from 9 w 7991
morn 4 w 7995
till 8 w 7999
eve 15 w 8002
was 10 w 8006
I 35 w 8007
falling 1 w 8014
till 9 w 8019
at 63 w 8021
sunset 1 w 8027
I 36 w 8028
came 4 w 8032
to 79 w 8034
ground 1 w 8040
in 111 w 8042
the 195 w 8045
island 1 w 8051
of 55 w 8053
Lemnos 1 w 8059
and 99 w 8063
there 7 w 8068
I 37 w 8069
lay 4 w 8072
with 22 w 8077
