When all were assembled together, Fulvius, yielding to the advice of Caius, sent the younger of his sons with a heralds wand into the forum. The young man was very fair to look upon; and now, in a decorous attitude, modestly, and with tears in his eyes, he addressed conciliatory words to the consul and the senate.
