ἔθω to be accustomed: the pres. only in partic., κακὰ πόλλʼ ἔρδεσκεν ἔθων much ill he wrought by custom, i. e. was accustomed to work, Il.; otherwise, perf. εἴωθα, Ionic ἔωθα is used as a pres., and plup. εἰώθειν, Ionic ἐώθεα, as imperf.:— to be wont or accustomed, be in the habit, c. inf., Il., Hdt., etc.:—in part. absol. accustomed, customary, usual, Il., Soph., etc.; in neut., κατὰ τὸ εἰωθός according to custom, παρὰ τὸ εἰωθός contrary to custom, Thuc.
