a ship is called δόρυ, like Lat. trabs, Aesch., Eur.
the shaft of a spear, Il.: then, generally, a spear, pike, Hom., etc.; εἰς δόρυ ἀφικνεῖσθαι to come within a spearʼs throw, Xen.; ἐπὶ δόρυ to the spear-side, i. e. the right hand, opp. to ἐπʼ ἀσπίδα, Xen.:—also, the pole of a standard, Xen.
