δέω to bind, tie, fetter, δεσμῶι τινα δῆσαι Il., etc.:—c. acc. only, to bind, put in bonds, Od., Attic metaph. to bind, enchain, γλῶσσα δέ οἱ δέδεται Theogn.; ψυχὰ δέδεται λύπηι Eur. c. gen. to let or stop one from a thing, ἔδησε κελεύθου Od.
