Mid. to give way, draw or shrink back, retire, Il.
c. gen. to draw back or retire from, χάζεσθε μάχης Il., etc.; so, χ. ἐκ βελέων, ὑπʼ ἔγχεος Il.; οὐδὲ δὴν χάζετο ἀνδρός nor in truth was he (or it, the stone) far from the man, i. e. nearly hit him, Il.
