φλαῦρος φλαῦρος, α, ον collat. form of φαῦλος petty, paltry, trivial, Solon., Pind., Hdt. paltry, sorry, indifferent, bad, Aesch., Soph.; φλαῦρον ἐργάζεσθαί τινα to do one a mischief, Ar.; φλαῦρον εἰπεῖν τινα to speak disparagingly of him, Ar. useless, Soph. of persons, οὐ φλαυροτάτους τιμωρούς not the meanest or weakest avengers, Hdt.; τῆς στρατιῆς τὸ φλαυρότατον the least serviceable part, Hdt. shabby, plain, of personal appearance, Hdt. bad, opp. to χρηστός, Eur. adv., φλαύρως ἔχειν to be ill, Hdt.; φλ. ἔχειν τινός to be ill off for a thing, Thuc.; but, φλαύρως ἔχειν τὴν τέχνην to know an art badly, Hdt.; φλ. ἀκούειν, like Lat. male audire, to be ill spoken of, Hdt.
