φάλος .φάλος (ᾰ), ὁ, a part of the helmet worn by the Homeric heroes, either a metal ridge in which the plume (λόφος) was fixed, or (rather) the peak of the helmet: then, an ἀμφίφαλος κυνέη would be one that had a peak behind as well as before.
