to bind or fasten under, Hdt.
esp. to underbind, i. e. to shoe, because the sandals or shoes were bound on with straps, Plat.:—Mid. to bind under oneʼs feet, put on shoes, Ar., Xen., etc.; also c. acc., ὑποδησάμενος κοθόρνους Hdt.:—so in perf. pass., ὑποδήματα ὑποδεδεμένος with shoes on oneʼs feet, Plat.; and absol., ὑποδεδεμένοι with their shoes on, Xen.; so, ὑποδεδεμένοι τὸν ἀριστερὸν πόδα with shoes on the left foot, Thuc.
