to do, act, deal, Od.:—absol., Hom.:—c. acc. rei, to do, accomplish, make, Hom., etc.: —Pass., μῆχος ῥεχθέντος κακοῦ a remedy for mischief once done, Il.
c. dupl. acc. pers. et rei, to do something to one, κακὸν ῥέζειν τινά Hom.; ἀγαθὰ ῥ. τινά Hom.; also more rarely c. dat. pers., μηκέτι μοι κακὰ ῥέζετε do me no more mischiefs, Od.; ὅσα βροτοῖς ἔρεξας κακά Eur.
with strengthd. signf., εἴ τι ῥέξει if it shall avail aught, be of any service, Il.
in spec. sense, to perform sacrifices, Hom., Soph.; absol. to do sacrifice, Lat. operari, facere, ῥέζειν θεῶι Hom.:—sometimes with the victim in acc., ῥέξω βοῦν ἦνιν will sacrifice it, Soph.
