πῶς interrog. adv. of manner, how? in what way or manner? Lat. qui? quomodo? used in direct questions, as ὅπως in indirect, Hom., etc.:—with a second interrog. in the same clause, πῶς ἐκ τίνος νεὼς . . ἥκετε; how and by what ship came ye? Eur.:—c. gen., πῶς ἀγῶνος ἥκομεν; how are we come off in it? Eur. with Verbs of selling, how? at what price? πῶς ὁ σῖτος ὤνιος; Ar. πῶς δοκεῖς; v. δοκέω 1. 2. with other Particles, πῶς ἂν. . ; Epic πῶς κε or κεν . . ; how possibly . . ?
