προξενέω fut. ήσω imperf. προὐξένουν fut. -ήσω perf. προὐξένηκα to be any oneʼs πρόξενος, διὰ τὸ προξενεῖν ὑμῶν because he is your πρόξενος, Xen.; πρ. τῶν πρέσβεων to act as πρ. to the envoys of a friendly State, Dem.:—generally, to be oneʼs protector, patron, Eur. from the duties of a πρόξενος (signf.
