to be shepherd, ἐπʼ ὄεσσι over the sheep, Il.: c. acc. to tend a flock, Od., Eur., etc.; absol., Theocr.:—Pass., like νέμομαι, to roam the pastures, of flocks, Il., Eur.
in Aesch., πᾶς πεποίμανται τόπος every place has been traversed (as by a shepherd seeking after stray sheep).
