Xen.:—perf. pass. to have come into possession of a thing, Hdt. to cloke or veil in words, Plat. to throw beyond, and so, generally, to excel, surpass, μνηστῆρας δώροισι Od.; or, simply, π. ἀρετῇ to be superior in virtue, Il.
