ὁλόσχοινος
ὁλόσχοινος
ὁλό-σχοινος, ὁ,
a coarse rush, used in wicker-work: —hence the proverb, ἀπορράπτειν τὸ φιλίππου στόμα ὁλοσχοίνῳ ἀβρόχῳ to stop Philipʼs mouth with an unsoaked rush, (for rushes were soaked to make them tough), i. e. without any trouble, Aeschin.
