ὄλβιος ὄλβιος, ον, ὄλβος of persons, happy, blest, in Hom., always in reference to worldly goods, wealth, like Lat. beatus, Hom., etc. of things, in neut. pl., θεοὶ δέ τοι ὄλβια δοῖεν may they give thee rich gifts, Od.; neut. pl. as adv., ὄλβια ζωέμεναι to live happily, Od.:—adv. -ίως, Soph.; Sup. ὀλβιώτατος Hdt.; in later Poets, ὄλβιστος.
