κονία κόνις dust, a cloud of dust, stirred up by menʼs feet, Il.; also in pl., like Lat. arenae, Hom., etc. sand or soil (v. ὑπερέπτω) Il. ashes, in pl. like Lat. cineres, Od. a fine powder, sprinkled over wrestlersʼ bodies after being oiled, to make them more easily grasped by the opponent:—this powder was also used in the bath, Ar. ῑ in κονίῃσιν, in other cases ῑ usually.
