collectively, = οἱ κληροῦχοι, the body of citizens who receive such allotments, Thuc., Plut.—An Athenian κληρουχία differed from a colony (ἀποικία) , in that the κληροῦχοι were still citizens of the mother country, instead of forming an independent state.
