καρπόω καρπόω, fut. -ώσω καρπόs1 to bear fruit or bear as fruit, Aesch. Mid. to get fruit for oneself, i. e., to reap crops from land, Hdt., Aesch.: metaph. to exhaust or drain, τὴν Ἑλλάδα Ar. to enjoy the interest of money, Dem.; so in perf. pass., τὸ ἐργαστήριον κεκαρπωμένος enjoying the profits of the shop, Dem.:—absol. to make profit, Ar. to reap the fruits of, enjoy the free use of, Thuc., etc.: —then, simply, to enjoy, Soph., Eur., etc.:— sometimes in bad sense, καρποῦσθαι τὴν ἁμαρτίαν Aesch.; πένθη Eur.
