with a person for the object, often of grief, hardship, and the like, ἄχος κραδίην καὶ θυμὸν ἱκάνει Il.; so, ἄλγος, γῆρας, κάματος, χόλος ἱκάνει τινά Hom.; παλαίφατα θέσφατʼ ἱκάνει με they are fulfilled upon me, Od.
