to fine, amerce, mulct in a sum of money, c. dat. rei, ζ. τινὰ χιλίῃσι δραχμῇσι Hdt.; χρήμασιν Thuc.:— Pass. to be fined or amerced in a thing, c. dat., Plat.; c. acc., τὴν ψυχὴν ζημιώσεαι wilt lose thy life, Hdt.
