a mountain-top, summit: used by Hom. only in the phrase κατʼ ἄκρης from top to bottom, i. e. utterly, πόλιν αἱρέειν κατʼ ἄκρης Hdt.; so in Attic, κατʼ ἄκρας utterly, Trag., Plat.
