πλᾰτᾰγ-ώνιον, τό,
A). broad petal of the poppy or anemone, so called because lovers took omens from it, laying it on the left hand, and striking it with the right, and it was a good omen if it burst with a loud crack, , cf. 11.57 Fr. 74.43 , ; 9.127 τῷ μηκῶνος π. AJ 3.7.6 (vulg. πλαταγῶνι); cf. τηλέφιλον.
