A). whensoever, used only with subj., , etc.( 15.209 uses ὁππότε κεν in the same way, , 4.40 229 , al.): rarely after past tenses, πολλὰς .. η&|σθου πλαγάς, ὁπόταν .. νὺξ ὑπολείφθῃ (for ὁπότε νὺξ ὑπολειφθείη) El. 91 (anap.): never with ind. in early writers, for φθέγξομαι ( ), 21.340 ἱμείρεται ( ) are Ep. aor. subj. forms, and in 1.41 16.282 θῇσιν is the right reading : never with opt. save in late writers (unless the Mss. can be trusted in Alc. 2.146a ), for in 7.415 ὁππότ’ ἄρ’ is the reading of the best codd.; in Cyr. 1.3.11 ὁπότε ἥκοι is the right reading.
