A). without pain, and so:
I). of persons, insensible to pain or danger, Meliss. ap. Arist. Xen. 974a19 , cf. EN 1115b26 .
2). unfeeling, hard-hearted, ruthless, S. Aj. 946 (lyr.); -ότερος εἶναι to feel less resentment, Th. 3.40 : c. gen., ἀ. γενέσθαι τινός to be ins nsible to, Plu. Aem. 35 . Adv. -τως unfeelingly, S. Aj. 1333 ; callously, ἀ. ἀκούειν Plu. 2.46c .
II). of things, not painful, ἀνάλγητα (sc. πράγματα) a lot free from pain, S. Tr. 126 .
2). cruel, πάθος E. Hipp. 1386 (lyr.).
