A). start up, μὴ πρὶν ἀναΐξειαν Ἀρήϊοι υἷες Ἀχαιῶν Il. 4.114 ; ὅτε δὴ .. ἀναΐξειεν Ὀδυσσεύς whenever he rose to speak, 3.216 ; of a spring, gush forth, 22.148 : so in later Poets, μυελὸς στέρνων ἐντὸς ἀνᾴσσων springing fresh within the breast, A. Ag. 77 cj. Herm., cf. Pers. 96 cj. Brunck; ὀρθοὶ ἀνῇξαν πάντες E. Hel. 1600 ; βωμὸς ἀνᾴσσων an altar rising up, Pi. O. 13.107 .—Rare in Prose, ἀναΐσσει νόσημα Hp. Prog. 19 ; ἀνᾴξας, of a hare, X. Cyn. 6.17 .
