A). crave, yearn, v.l. for ἰσχ- in , Od 23.300 8.288 ; τυροῦ ἀλώπηξ ἰχανῶσα :— Med., 77.2 ἰχανᾶσθ’ ἐπαυρέσθαι , cf. 7.26 EM 478.44 . (Cf. sq.; , Ἴχανα, name of a town in Sicily, is derived from the root by : prob. cogn. with ἀχήν, ἠχήν; Avest. ᾱζι- 'craving', Skt. īhate 'crave'.)
