II). bright, decorative, τὸν χαλκὸν .. ἔφασαν .. λειότερον, εὐπινέστερον, δυσιωτότερόν τε εἶναι τοῦ σιδήρου (therefore preferable in machine-construction) Heliod. ap. Orib. 49.3.5 ( Comp.), cf. 7 : hence metaph., of the style of ancient writers, elegant, simple, quaint, Caesar mihi irridere visus est 'quaeso' illud tuum, quod erat εὐπινὲς et urbanum, Cic.
