αἴνυμαι, poet. Verb, only in pres. and impf. without augm.:—
A). take, αἴνυτο τεύχε’ ἀπ’ ὤμων , 11.580 13.550 ; ἀπὸ πασσάλου αἴνυτο τόξον ; 21.53 χεῖρας αἰνύμεναι taking hold of, 22.500 : c. gen. partit., τυρῶν αἰνυμένους 9.225 : metaph., ἀλλά μ’ Ὀδυσσῆος πόθος αἴνυται a longing seizes me for him, 14.144 , cf. Sc. 41 ; enjoy, feed on, καρπόν . (Root 5.17 αἰ-, as in ἔξ-αι-τος.)
