A). to feed or cherish in old age, esp. one's parents, Med. 1033 , Alc. 663 ; also τέκνα Sent. 43 :— Pass., to be cherished when old, Ach. 678 ( γηρωβοσκήσει is read in Decl. 49.22 ; γηρωβοσκήσαντα is v.l. in ; cf. 3.1.38 γηρο-κομεῖον, -κομέω, -κομία, -κόμος: such forms might be due to contr. of γηραο-, but are more prob. misspellings).
