A). bane, ruin, ἀρὴν ἑτάροισιν ἀμύνειν ; 12.334 ἀρῆς ἀλκτῆρα γενέσθαι 18.100 ; ἀρὴν καὶ λοιγὸν ἀμῦναι 24.489 , cf. ; so in 2.59 Supp. 84 (lyr.), where the gloss of the Sch., βλάβης, confirms the reading ἀρῆς for ἄρης. (Cf. pf. part. ᾱ)ρημένος = βεβλαμμένος , and pr. n. Ἄρης (cf. ND 20 ), perh. also ἄρος, ἀρειά, ἐπήρεια; perh. an old ē stem.)
