2). use enchantments, practise sorcery, φαρμακεύσαντες ταῦτα ἐς τὸν ποταμόν having used this charm upon the river, Hdt. 7.114 .
II). c. acc. pers., purge, τινα Hp. Acut.(Sp.) 55 ; φ. ἄνω κούφῳ φαρμάκῳ purge upwards, i. e. by an emetic, Id. Art. 67 , cf. Aph. 4.12 :— Pass., to be purged, ib. 2.37 , Men. Her.Fr. 5 ; to be physicked, Arist. Top. 111a2 .
