ὑπ-όμνῡμι,
II). Med., in Att. law, make oath (for oneself or another) that something serious prevents a person's appearing in court at the due time, and so apply for a postponement of the trial, , etc.; 47.39 ὑ. τινὰ δημοσίᾳ ἀπεῖναι στρατευόμενον ; 48.25 τὸν Δημοσθένην τις ὑπωμόσατο ὡς νοσοῦντα applied for an extension of the term for Demosthenes on the plea of sickness, : hence, comically, 58.43 ὑπώμνυτο ὁ μὲν οἶνος ὄξος αὑτὸν εἶναι γνήσιον, τὸ δ’ ὄξος οἶνον αὑτὸ μᾶλλον θατέρου :— Pass., 65 ὑπομοθέντος τούτου this affidavit being put in by way of excuse, ; 48.25 ὑπομοθείσης ταύτης τῆς γραφῆς Fr. 202 .
