A). hobbled along beneath, in the phrase γούνατα δ’ ἐρρώσαντο, πόδες δ’ ὑπερικταίνοντο Od. 23.3 : according to Aristarch. it meant ἄγαν ἐπάλλοντο, and other ancient critics gave other explanations, v. EM 779.9 ; a reading ὑποακταίνοντο ( = ἔτρεμον ) is mentioned in Hsch.; cf. ἀκταίνω.
