A). having silver underneath: hence,
I). of rocks and the like , containing silver, veined with silver, πέτρα, χθών, E. Cyc. 294 , Rh. 970 ; γῆ, λόφοι, X. Vect. 1.5 , 4.2 : metaph. of men, containing a proportion of silver, Pl. R. 415c ; cf. ὑποσιδηρος.
2). silver underneath, of gilded plate, πρόσωπον ὑ. κατάχρυσον IG 12.280.76 , cf. 92.60 , al.; κρατὴρ ὑ. ἐπίτηκτος ib. 22.1388A44 ; τὰ ὑ. χρυσία, of false gold coins, S.E. P. 2.30 , cf.
