A). gnawer, nibbler: but in Od. 14.289 , 15.416 , Phoenician traffickers are called τρῶκται, greedy knaves; so τ. σφόδρ’ ἐστίν Com.Adesp. 606 ; and Gramm. explain τρώκτης by φάγος, φιλοκερδής, πανοῦργος, ἀπατεών, Hsch., Phot., Eust. 1757.51 ; φιλοχρήματοι καὶ τ. Philostr. Her.Prooem. 1 .
2). as Adj., τρῶκται χεῖρες greedy hands, of a usurer, AP 9.409 ( Antiphan., dub. cj.).
II). a sea-fish with sharp teeth, = ἀμία (q.v.), Ael. NA 1.5 .
