Thyest. 54; Ambros. in Luc. 7, 127.— Trop., to shoot forth, be developed, Claud. Cons. Prob. et Olybr. 63 (but in Lucr. 1, 674 the correct read. is vigescat; cf. id. 1, 757).— To flourish, prosper, grow: populi Romani adulescentia, quā maxime viruit, Flor. 1, 22, 1: virescit vulnere virtus, Furius ap. Gell. 18, 11, 4, and ap. Non. p. 188, 8.
