(like apiarius, etc.).  ăvĭārĭus, ii, m., a bird-keeper, Col. 8, 3, 4; 8, 5, 14; 8, 11, 12 al.— ăvĭārĭum, ii, n., a place where birds are kept, an aviary, ὀρνιθών, Varr. R. R. 3, 3, 7; 3, 4, 3; 3, 5, 5; Cic. ad Q. Fr. 3, 1, 1; Col. 8, 1, 3 sq.; Plin. 10, 50, 72, § 141.—Also, the abode of wild birds in the forest: Sanguineisque inculta rubent aviaria bacis, Verg.
