prae-lŏquor, cūtus (quūtus), 3, v. dep. a. and n. To speak beforehand or first, to speak before another, to forestall in speaking: occupas praeloqui, quae mi'st oratio, Plaut. Rud. 1, 4, 28; cf. id. ib. 1, 2, 31: quod mihi causam praeloquendi dedit, Plin. Ep. 8, 21, 3.— To say beforehand, in the way of preface or introduction, to premise, Quint. 4, 1, 2.—Absol., Plin.
