Ŏphīon, ŏnis, m., = Ὀφίων, a proper name. One of the giants, Claud. Rapt. Pros. 3, 348.— One of the companions of Cadmus; hence, ŏphīŏnĭus, a, um, adj., of or belonging to Ophion; poet. for Theban: Ophionia caedes, i. e. of Pentheus, Sen. Oedip. 483.— The father of Amycus, the Centaur; hence, ŏphīŏnĭdes, ae, m., the son of Ophion, the Ophionide, of Amycus, Ov. M. 12, 245.
