Ŏīleus (trisyl.), ĕi (ēī) and ĕŏs, m., = Ὀϊλευς. A king of Locris, father of the Ajax who violated Cassandra, and who was called, from his parentage, Ajax Oilei (to distinguish him from Ajax Telamonius), Cic. Tusc. 3, 29, 71: nec mihi Oilei proferatur Ajax, Lucil. ap. Non. 158, 12: unius ab noxam et furias Ajacis Oilei, Verg. A. 1, 41; in the form Oileos, Ov. M. 12, 622: multos, inquit Antonius, possum tuos Ajaces Oileos nominare, Cic. de Or. 2, 66, 265.—Transf., Ajax: fulmine et ponto moriens Oileus, Sen.
